Specialties
My program design slogan is, "less is more." Whats the least you have to do to get the best result. Below are my specialties and an introduction to the science of best methods for achieving fast results.
Strength Training
Myth: "You have to lift heavy weights to build muscle."
Reality: our muscles respond to stress. You can put stress on them with light weights just as well as heavy weights. The stress equation also factors in rest. Rest between reps, rest between sets, rest between exercises, and rest between workouts. The way to optimize a workout for muscle growth really depends on the person. So a properly customized strength training program is tailored to my client. I learn about what you like in a workout from exertion level, to amount of rest, types of movement patterns, and conversation. When you enjoy a workout and the person you're doing it with, you're more likely to adhere to a program. The more consistent you are, the more results you will attain.
Weight Loss
Myth: weightloss happens when you eat less calories than you burn through the day.
Reality: what you eat matters just as much as how mush you eat. You could burn 2,000 calories per day and eat 1,800 calories of junk food. You won't lose weight. You may not gain weight but you definitely won't lose it. You should eat a clean diet that consists of a good balance of healthy fats, complex carbohydrates, and high quality protein. Not only that, but your diet should consist of foods you like to eat. This way, you can eat things that you enjoy and not crave the junk food that makes losing weight "hard."
Yoga & Pilates
Myth: "I'm not flexible enough to do yoga."
Reality: yoga is a balance between flexibility, strength, and mindfulness.

Osteoporosis
The common myth in western medicine is that a diet low in calcium causes osteoporosis. However, this is a story created my the dairy industry to sell milk and milk products. In reality, osteoporosis is caused by a mix of dietary, lifestyle, and environmental factors. Which makes the prevention (and cure) of this disease more difficult than just taking a calcium supplements.
